I'm always interested in networking with BMW owners similar interests. R100GS, R100GSPD, R100 GS, GSPD, Paris Dakar R80GS, R80GSPD, R80 Airhead. When I drained the oil it was normal-dirty, not black, and no water or anything else unusual plug had a few tiny bits of junk on. When I have more parts than an immediate need for, make them available to other enthusiasts.
I've decided that all my restoration bikes will have a kick start, so pulled this out of the bike to do just that, otherwise it probably could stayed in for another 100k. Remember to fill it with oil. 80W90 GL5, also I would put a new neutral sensor on before installing, it worked when removed, but these are notorious problem parts and WAY easier to replace now than in few months/years is installed the bike. Prior years had potential issues with and/or pawl springs, out-of-spec castings, breaking of internal components '82-'84.
I don't know the actual mileage on transmission as bike did not have a working odometer when bought it. Regardless, I can tell you it is a great used transmission.
